Solar Power Plant in Hovukhu to be completed next financial year – Morung Express

Solar Power Plant of capacity 5MW at Hovukhu village under Niuland District is under progress and Project is expected to be completed by the next financial year.
This was stated in the Annual Administrative Report 2022-23 of the department of New & Renewable Energy tabled by Nagaland’s chief minister Neiphiu Rio in the just concluded first session of 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly in Kohima.    
The report stated that the power generated from 5MW Hovukhu Solar Power Plant shall be evacuated by constructing a new single circuit 33 KV overhead transmission line up to the 66/33/11 KV substation located within 15Km of the proposed Solar Power Plant which will be utilized to meet the energy demand of the state.
The energy generated from the 5MW Solar Power Plant will be injected into the grid whereby, it shall be evacuated and distributed by the Power Department, Government of Nagaland, the report stated.
 
Noroi stage- 1 (2x75kW) under construction
Noroi Stage- 1 with an installed capacity 2X75 kW at Punglwa village in Peren district is under construction.
The report stated that the energy generated from this project will be injected into the state grid.
The project is expected to be completed within this financial year, the report added.
Today, there is an increase in energy demand to fulfill the economic development plans that are being implemented and Renewable Energy resources have the ability to fulfill the world's energy demand, protect the environment and provide energy security.
Thus, the Department of New & Renewable Energy, Nagaland was created in July, 2009 to generate energy from the renewable energy resources available and to cater the needs of the State.
The Department implements the Schemes and Programmes of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India and the State Government. Some of the Programmes/Schemes implemented by the Department till date are Small Hydro Projects, Solar Power Plants, Solar Street Light, Solar Wind Hybrid System, Solar Study Lamps etc.
