The bills include a number of provisions of interest to cities including funding for a program to provide cybersecurity grants to local governments and changing the effective date of Juneteenth.
The House State and Local Government Finance and Policy Committee and the Senate State and Local Government and Veterans Committee have each released their omnibus finance bills for the next biennial budget. The bills provide funding for state government agencies and contain a number of provisions of interest to local governments.
The House bill was passed by the House State and Local Government Finance and Policy Committee on Mar. 30 and referred to the House Ways and Means Committee. The Senate bill will be taken up by the Senate State and Local Government and Veterans Committee on April 3.
